The AgoraNet Constitution

Preamble

AgoraNet is a digital Stoa — a purpose-built space where verified humans reason together, from first principles, to turn shared values into real-world action. We hold that good governance is impossible on a medium built for spectacle, and possible on one built for deliberation. By recording our consequential acts on a public, permanent ledger, and by binding even our own authority to rules we change only deliberately and in the open, we, the members of AgoraNet, establish this Constitution.

  1. Article I — Decentralization

    No member, moderator, or founder holds unaccountable power. Authority is earned, limited, and revocable; even moderation is recorded and appealable. AgoraNet's legitimacy rests on its rules and its transparency — not on any person or entity.

  2. Article II — Transparency and Openness

    Every consequential action is written to a public, hash-chained Civic Ledger — append-only and independently verifiable. Nothing is quietly edited or deleted; corrections are new entries. Decisions carry their public reasons.

  3. Article III — Inclusivity and Participation

    Entry is open to verified humans, and every member may answer, vote, and debate. Standing is earned through insight and contribution — never bought, and never granted for being loud or popular.

  4. Article IV — The Rights of Members

    Each human holds two unlinkable faces — a True Self and an Alias — so they may speak on hard subjects without fear. One human carries one vote and may hold authority through only one face, on merit. True Self and Alias reputations never merge.

  5. Article V — Checks and Balances

    Deliberation here informs the bodies it serves; it does not replace them. Moderation is itself moderated — recorded, reasoned, and subject to appeal before a panel of verified humans. No single role may both judge and stand unaccountable.

  6. Article VI — Deliberate Amendment

    This Constitution is meant to be hard to change. An amendment requires a published reason, a waiting period, and a high threshold, and is ratified only after the community has lived an iteration of the change. The questions of the meta-pillar — above all the last — seed and guard these rules.

This Constitution is deliberately hard to amend. It changes only through the open amendment process, and every version is recorded on the public Civic Ledger.
